Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd in Surrey is seeking a Mobile Mechanical Engineer to service and repair commercial plant rooms across civic buildings, libraries, schools and offices. This permanent role covers Surrey and Merton with a company van and £40,000–£45,000 salary.

You will perform planned preventive maintenance, diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, service actuators, water systems and pumps, and participate in a call-out rota with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in a mechanical discipline such as plumbing and heating.
• UHWSS or G3 Qualified.
• Commercial plant room experience.
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience.
• Full clean driving licence.
• Enhanced DBS background check required.
• Live within a reasonable distance of Surrey and Merton.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults and breakdowns.
• Service actuators, expansion vessels, hot and cold water systems, strainers and pumps.
• Perform general commercial plumbing repairs.
• Respond to emergency call-outs and unplanned maintenance issues.

Job description

As a Mobile Mechanical Engineer based in Surrey, you will join a longstanding mechanical engineering firm to deliver planned preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs across commercial plant rooms. The role is permanent and covers contracts including civic buildings, Wimbledon Tennis Club, libraries, schools, community centres, fire stations and offices within Surrey and Merton. You will work on a van‑mobile basis and will be responsible for servicing actuators, expansion vessels, hot and cold water systems, strainers, pumps and general commercial plumbing.

Responsibilities

• Service actuators, expansion vessels, hot and cold water systems, strainers and pumps
• Perform general commercial plumbing repairs
• Respond to emergency call‑outs and unplanned maintenance issues

Qualifications

Package

• £40,000–£45,000 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications
• 40‑hour week, Monday to Friday
• Weekly or monthly pay options
• Travel time paid after 30 minutes each way
• Fully expensed company van (with private use), fuel card and expenses

• Call‑out rota: 1 in 7 weeks with £200 retainer
