Job summary

The RAC is hiring a Mobile Mechanic in its SMR division. You will service and repair vehicles on pre-booked appointments, often at members’ driveways or car parks, using mobile diagnostics and on-site tools. There are no emergency callouts; you’ll work to RAC standards with support and planning.

You’ll enjoy a structured development pathway, a fully equipped RAC van, and opportunities to progress toward accreditation while earning a competitive base salary with overtime potential.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience, or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing and diagnostics using mobile equipment.
• Perform in-depth repairs away from roadside, in customers' driveways or car parks.
• Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
• Conduct vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
