Job summary

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council's Home Libraries service is seeking a Driver/Assistant on a part-time, permanent basis to support our Home Library and Bookstart service. The role involves driving a van to deliver books and other items to customers, and handling stock, issuing and returning items on the Library Management System, and preparing orders.

You should have driving experience, be able to perform daily vehicle safety checks, communicate well with customers (including elderly), and

Qualifications

• Driving experience and ability to keep a vehicle safe, perform daily safety checks.
• Comfortable with administrative work as part of duties.
• Good communication with customers, including elderly residents.

Responsibilities

• Deliver books and other items by van to customers.
• Issue and return items on the Library Management System.
• Prepare orders and handle daily administrative tasks.
• Answer telephone inquiries and support day-to-day duties.
