Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a Mobile Library Driver/Assistant based at Coalville Library to deliver library services across Leicestershire. This permanent full-time role drives a mobile library and provides excellent customer service at various stops.

The post involves fixed routes, visits to schools and nurseries, and responding to customer queries while promoting library services. A valid driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• LGV Licence (C) or HGV (2) with CPC; competent driving large vehicles.
• Current experience driving a large goods vehicle.
• Excellent customer service and ability to engage diverse customers.
• Confident with IT and library systems; training provided.
• Ability to work to set timetable and routes; self‑motivated.
• A C1 entitlement for vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes is necessary for our Mobile Libraries.

Responsibilities

• Drive a mobile library vehicle on predetermined routes across Leicestershire.
• Deliver library services and respond to customer queries at stops.
• Promote library services to communities and schools.
• Maintain safety and vehicle standards; work with minimal supervision.
