Job summary

My client, a leading UK energy and utilities infra developer, is seeking a Mobile Heating Engineer to maintain complex district heating systems. The role focuses on the flagship Energy Park development and involves both preventive maintenance and reactive repairs to maximise uptime for critical heating networks.

You will service boiler plants, pumps, HIUs, and heat interfaces, diagnose faults, and execute pipework modifications.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 in Electrical maintenance or installation (essential)
• NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing and Heating (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Service boiler plants, pumps, valves, and HIUs.
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electrical faults on district heating networks.
• Respond to system breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Complete digital work orders, safety checklists, and compliance certificates daily.
• Execute pipework modifications, component replacements, and system flushing.
• Participate in rotating out-of-hours call-out roster.

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mobile Heating Engineer to maintain complex heating infrastructure. The role focuses heavily on a flagship Energy Park development and involves managing planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs to ensure maximum uptime for critical district heating and decentralized energy systems.

Key Duties

• Service commercial boiler plants, pumps, valves, and heat interface units (HIUs).
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electrical faults on district heating networks.
• Respond swiftly to system breakdowns to minimize resident and commercial downtime.
• Complete digital work orders, safety checklists, and compliance certificates daily.
• Execute pipework modifications, component replacements, and system flushing.
• Participate in a rotating out-of-hours call‑out roster.

Skills & Experience

• Experience bridging both commercial plumbing and electrical disciplines.
• Prior experience on district heating schemes or energy centres.
• Ability to isolate, test, and wire heating controls, motorised valves, and pumps.
• Proficiency in pipe fitting, soldering, and crimping commercial heating pipework.
• Advanced diagnostic skills for complex multi‑zone hydronic systems.
• Comfortable using mobile asset management apps for tracking jobs.
