Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is inviting applications for a Catering Assistant to actively participate in the daily operation of the Catering Unit under the direction of the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor. The role focuses on hygienic service, food preparation and serving to pupils and staff, and maintaining high standards of customer service in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Clear demonstration on application form for essential criteria and any desirable criteria.
• Effective communication to support team working and customer engagement.
• Ability to organise, plan and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Motivation to provide excellent food and customer service for children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Prepare basic food and beverages and vegetables using appropriate equipment.
• Conduct simple cooking and reconstitution of prepared food.
• Organise and control food service points and serving areas.
• Assist with promotion of meals to pupils, parents and staff.
• Maintain contact with central kitchen regarding service delivery.
• Set dining area and tables, lay out cutlery and water jugs, and manage dining room duties.
• Clean kitchen/servery and dining areas, record temperatures for control purposes.
• Carry out duties to comply with laws, codes of practice and school values.
