Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) invites applications for the Mobile Cook role. You will assist the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor in meal preparation and cooking, ensuring a hygienic service and customer satisfaction.

You will work as part of a team, contribute to menu planning, portion control and dietary meals, and assist with stock taking, stores and staff training. A suitable qualification or catering experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Hold NVQ level 2 in food preparation and cooking or equivalent OR two years’ experience in catering.
• Knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP).
• Willingness to undertake job related training.
• Have access to a suitable vehicle (or an alternative transport) to meet mobility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of the full range of meals, including portion control and special dietary meals.
• Record keeping and stock management in kitchen and stores.
• Manage hygiene, health and safety in the kitchen and monitor temperatures.
• Provide direction and supervision to other staff as required.
• Assist in operational control of service points, including transported meals.
• Assist in planning meals and stock deliveries; support promotion of the service to parents and customers.
• Perform general kitchen duties including cleaning and maintaining equipment.
