Job summary

Expedia Group is offering a Global Summer Internship in London as a Machine Learning Science Intern. You will design and evaluate ML models, implement training/inference code, and collaborate with a cross-functional team to deliver real-world ML solutions.

The role requires a PhD candidate in a technical field, strong Python/Scala/SQL skills, and willingness to relocate to London. Hybrid/work-learning opportunities are available as part of a structured internship program.

Qualifications

• Must be graduating with a PhD between December 2027 and July 2028 in a technical/analytical subject.
• Must have Python and/or Scala, SQL knowledge.
• Willing to relocate to London if outside commuting distance.
• Helpful to have knowledge of ML topics (Regression, NLP, Deep Learning).
• Helpful to have experience with distributed computing (Spark, Hadoop).
• Familiarity with cloud computing (AWS) in distributed contexts.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and evaluate ML models under guidance of senior scientists.
• Implement clean training and inference code with basic testing and reproducible experiments.
• Contribute to data modeling, API design, and ML feature development for production features.
• Explore data with statistical methods to improve model quality, robustness, and fairness.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product partners to deliver measurable ML impact.
