Job summary

Sainsbury's is seeking an ML Engineer to build and maintain production ML pipelines and infrastructure that drive value across its products and services. You will collaborate with Data Scientists and engineers to operationalize models, implement CI/CD, monitoring, and alerting, and optimize inference performance.

You will join a modern software engineering environment with Agile practices and a strong focus on quality, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python and production-grade software engineering practices.
• Experience building ML pipelines and deploying models in production.
• Knowledge of MLOps lifecycle from experimentation to deployment and monitoring.
• Strong understanding of data pipelines and data platform integration.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain production-grade ML pipelines and infrastructure for reliable deployment of ML models.
• Implement ML systems following architectural patterns and standards, escalating trade-offs when needed.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists to operationalize models and translate experimental code to production-ready solutions.
• Contribute to CI/CD, model versioning, monitoring and alerting to ensure operational quality.
• Tune performance and resource usage of inference pipelines and optimize ML systems.
• Participate in code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
• Identify tech debt and bottlenecks and work with seniors to implement fixes.
• Respond to incidents affecting production ML systems with guidance from the team.
