Job summary

Optima UK Inc Ltd in Leicester (LE2) is seeking an experienced MIG Welder to join our production team. You will MIG weld mild steel components to a high standard, reading engineering drawings and ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and to specification.

The role suits someone with pride in workmanship, strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a busy, 39-hour week environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a MIG Welder.
  • Experience welding mild steel.
  • Ability to produce consistent, high-quality welds.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good understanding of workshop health and safety.
  • Reliable, punctual and willing to work in a busy production environment.

Responsibilities

  • MIG weld mild steel components and assemblies to the required specification.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and welding instructions.
  • Set up and operate MIG welding equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Select appropriate welding settings, wire and gas for the materials being welded.
  • Prepare materials prior to welding, including cutting, cleaning, grinding and positioning where required.
  • Ensure welds meet the required quality and dimensional standards.
  • Inspect completed work and identify any defects or areas requiring rework.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and correctly.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
  • Work cooperatively with colleagues and other departments to meet production requirements.

Job Role: MIG Welder

Location: Leicester, LE2

Shift: Monday to Thursday: 7:00am - 4:00pm, Friday: 7:00am - 12:00 noon

Pay Rate: £14.00 - £16.00 per hour, depending on experience

About the Role
