Job summary

Multi-Skilled Welder Fabricator role in Oldham requires proven experience in welding and fabrication. The job involves switching between TIG and MIG duties on large projects, reading drawings, and finishing components to strict quality standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Welder Fabricator in fabrication/engineering.
• Strong TIG welding skills (stainless steel and aluminium).
• Strong MIG welding skills with multi-run welds.
• Root run MIG welding to full penetration advantageous.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Fabrication skills: marking out, preparation, measuring, grinding, drilling and finishing.
• Experience with fabrication machinery would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• TIG and MIG welding of fabricated components across a range of materials.
• Fabricating, aligning and tack-welding components to drawings and specifications.
• Setting up and safely operating welding and fabrication equipment.

Multi-Skilled Welder Fabricator (TIG & MIG)

Role Overview

An excellent opportunity for an experienced, multi-skilled Welder Fabricator to join a busy engineering and fabrication business in Oldham. The work is varied: large projects can be predominantly TIG one month and predominantly MIG the next. The business is looking for an all-round engineer rather than a single-process welder. You will be a problem solver who can fabricate, weld and finish components to engineering drawings, with a strong focus on quality, accuracy and safe working practices.

Salary

£20.00 per hour (approx. £37,960 per year basic, plus overtime)

Working Hours

• Monday–Thursday: 7:00am–3:00pm
• Friday: 7:00am–12:30pm
• 36.5 hours per week
• Overtime available at 1.5x
• Sunday overtime at 2x

Key Requirements

• Proven experience as a Welder Fabricator within fabrication, engineering or heavy manufacturing
• Strong TIG welding skills, ideally on stainless steel and aluminium
• Strong MIG welding skills, including multi-run welds
• Experience of, or willingness to develop, root run MIG welding to full penetration
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Fabrication skills: marking out, preparation, measuring, grinding, drilling and finishing
• Experience with press brakes or other fabrication machinery would be advantageous
• Ability to safely use fabrication and lifting equipment where trained
• Practical, problem‑solving approach and the flexibility to turn your hand to a variety of tasks
• Reliable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team
