Job summary

Sopra Steria Ltd is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer – Messaging Solutions to join a skilled team delivering secure messaging and infrastructure services in a Defence environment. The role covers design, development, testing and early-life support on critical projects.

Location is on-site in Gloucestershire with Deep Vetting eligible, and a weekly on-call rota (one week in four). Salary up to £60,000 depending on experience, with benefits and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience managing Microsoft Messaging toolsets (Exchange/Skype/SharePoint).
• Knowledge of engineering tools, techniques and methods within your specialist area.
• Understanding of technology, infrastructure and environmental considerations that impact Messaging solutions.
• Experience producing designs, building software components and supporting testing activities.
• Knowledge of project lifecycle activities, risk analysis, risk mitigation and configuration management disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Producing detailed software and infrastructure designs, including performance specifications and physical designs.
• Designing, building and unit testing messaging components and supporting link testing activities.
• Supporting implementation activities and system installations.
• Creating user documentation, developing operational procedures and supporting users during early live running.
• Contributing to project delivery through risk management, change control, configuration management and release management activities.
