Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a Children's Support Worker to help young people in Merthyr, Wales. The role offers flexible shifts and is ideal for students or those with other commitments, supporting daily activities and well-being.

You will gain valuable experience by assisting with activities, promoting independence, and ensuring safety while engaging in weekend trips and relaxed evenings. The position requires care-oriented, resilient individuals with relevant DBS checks and a valid UK driving

Qualifications

At least 6 months’ experience working with children or in a social care setting.
TMVA restraint training certificate or willingness to undertake training.
Valid UK driving licence.
Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

Support children and young people in all daily activities and interests.
Attend weekends away, holidays, and trips with the children.
Support, promote independence, and enhance the wellbeing of young people.
Attend weekend and evening activities to support children’s interests, from climbing to baking or trips to Butlins.
Protect children and young people from health and safety risks.
Provide emotional and practical support within your role.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines to ensure safety.
Assist in managing challenging behaviour and minimise incidents.
