Join DEBRA UK as our Membership Event Coordinator and help us build a supportive community for individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
DEBRA is a national charity dedicated to supporting those living with EB, a painful and often life-limiting genetic skin condition. We are a friendly and supportive team based in our Bracknell Head Office, and we are looking for a motivated and passionate individual to join us on a full-time, permanent basis (35 hours per week).
We also offer the possibility of up to 2 days working from home, along with a competitive salary of up to £28,000 per annum, depending on your experience.This role also requires occasional travel and the flexibility to work outside of regular hours.
About the Role:
As our Membership Event Coordinator, you will play a vital role in coordinating a diverse range of member-focused events, both in person and online. You'll use valuable insights and feedback from our members to design and deliver events that truly meet their needs, providing crucial opportunities for connection, support, and reducing feelings of isolation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of coordinating the full lifecycle of in-person member events, from liaising with venues and suppliers to securing expert speakers and managing contracts.
- Skillfully manage our virtual events, ensuring seamless execution on online platforms, securing speakers, and coordinating with our CRM database.
- Diligently follow all key event processes for both in-person and virtual events, including health & safety checks, risk assessments, database updates, and media consents.
- Contribute to the development of engaging member communications to effectively promote our events.
- Collaborate with the member services team to deliver and host events, acting as a key point of contact and ensuring a positive experience for attendees.
- Proactively track and report on event management status and expenditure.
- Maintain accurate event details within our systems and provide insightful statistics for reporting purposes.
- Support post-event processes, including impactful follow-up communications (emails, website updates, news and blog posts) and feedback collection.
- Assist the Membership Manager in gathering and analysing member feedback to drive continuous improvement in our event programme.
- Contribute to the planning of future event programmes, ensuring member feedback is central to our approach.
- Collaborate with teams across DEBRA UK to explore opportunities for member involvement in broader organisational events.
What We are Looking For:
- Proven experience in event management within a professional context (both online and offline).
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, online event platforms, project tracking software, CRM databases, and basic webpage maintenance.
- Demonstrable experience in designing and implementing efficient team project processes.
- Confidence and ability to independently host small member events.
- Some experience in communication planning for diverse audiences.
- Experience working in the charity or not-for-profit sector is advantageous.
- A highly organised individual with excellent time management and problem-solving abilities.
- Confidence and competence in learning and using new software.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for engaging with individuals via email, phone, and in person.
- A proactive and confident approach to building relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to drive and travel to locations independently.
- Comfort in working with third-party suppliers and managing contracts.
- A collaborative spirit with the ability to work effectively across different teams.
- A self-starter who can work on their own initiative as well as part of a team.
