This fixed-term Medical Secretary post, lasting 14 months from February 2027, supports the Haematology consultants and Practice Manager at The London Clinic. The work centres on diaries, clinic and procedure bookings, clinical correspondence and patient enquiries, with invoicing and payments taken from self-funding patients. It sits in a small private practice where the post holder deals with insurers and embassies over treatment approvals. Medical secretarial experience is the key requirement, and private practice billing experience is useful.

- Manage consultant diaries, including clinics, theatre procedures and meetings, and communicate changes promptly
- Book appointments and prepare patient notes, results and documentation before clinics
- Prepare, proofread and send dictated clinical correspondence, filing it against the correct patient record
- Respond to patient calls and emails, handle sensitive conversations and direct clinical concerns to the right colleague
- Liaise with insurers and embassies to obtain treatment approvals and complete related documentation and billing
- Raise invoices, take payments from self-funding patients, provide procedure cost estimates and chase outstanding payments when asked
- Follow up agreed actions, including further appointments, investigations and diagnostic tests, with consultants, nurses and hospital colleagues
- Coordinate bed and chemotherapy bookings, liaising with hospital teams to confirm arrangements
- Keep patient records and financial information accurate and confidential, and support colleagues with the office's daily running
