Job summary

Omega is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for night shifts at our Wellingborough site. The role involves fault diagnosis and repair of mechanical and hydraulic systems, PPMs to maximise reliability, and supporting CI initiatives to improve OEE.

You will work 12-hour nights on a 3-on/2-off and 3-on/4-off pattern. Applicants should have at least Level 2/3 engineering qualification and a strong background in manufacturing maintenance, with practical fault-finding skills and a proactive,

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical).
• Strong mechanical maintenance background within a manufacturing or production environment.
• Experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
• Basic electrical fault-finding ability (desirable, not essential).

Responsibilities

• Carry out fault diagnosis and repairs on mechanical and hydraulic systems across production equipment.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to maximise machinery reliability and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot breakdowns and implement effective, long-term solutions to minimise downtime.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise equipment performance (OEE).
• Maintain and service site equipment, utilities, and general mechanical systems.
• Work collaboratively with production teams to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
• Complete maintenance records and ensure all work is carried out in line with health & safety standards.
• Assist with basic electrical fault finding and repair where required.

3 night on, 2 off, 3 nights on, 4 off (12‑hour shifts, 7–7)
