Job summary

Synergi Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a large, well-invested heavy industrial site in Leicester. You will join an established maintenance team and work on a range of heavy industrial and automated equipment with ongoing training and clear career progression.

The role offers a basic salary of £55,000–£58,000, annual bonus, and a 15% pension contribution, plus overtime opportunities. A 4 on 4 off days/nights pattern is required.

Qualifications

• Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and maintenance experience.
• Experience in manufacturing/heavy industry environments.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform mechanical maintenance on heavy industrial equipment.
• Diagnose and repair faults on plant machinery and production lines.
• Maintain conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, motors, chains and hydraulics.
• Carry out mechanical installations, repairs and equipment improvements.
• Support preventative maintenance to improve plant reliability.
• Assist with root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Minimise downtime and maximise plant performance.

The Role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across a heavy industrial production facility.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults on plant machinery and production equipment.
• Maintaining conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, motors, chains and hydraulic systems.
• Carrying out mechanical installations, repairs and equipment improvements.
• Supporting preventative maintenance activities to improve plant reliability.
• Assisting with root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Minimising downtime and maximising plant performance.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with engineering standards.

What We're Looking For

• Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and maintenance experience.
• Previous experience within manufacturing, heavy industry, processing, recycling, steel, aggregates, building products, FMCG or similar environments.
• Experience working with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings and hydraulic systems.
• A proactive and safety-focused approach to maintenance.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Flexibility to work a 4 on 4 off days and nights shift pattern.
