Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a manufacturing environment in the United Kingdom. The role includes identifying failure modes, diagnosing and repairing equipment, and coordinating with day teams to resolve long-term issues.

Shifts run 6am-3pm and 2pm-10pm, Monday to Friday, with a salary up to £48,000 plus bonus. The position emphasizes preventive maintenance and parts management in a dynamic workplace.

Qualifications

• Significant experience within a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer role within manufacturing.
• Driven and self-motivated with ability to motivate others.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Accurate and timely reporting skills.
• Completed an apprenticeship as a Maintenance Engineer.
• Working knowledge of good engineering practices.
• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent City & Guilds or HNC).
• Experience with Fabrication, Welding and Machining preferable.

Responsibilities

• Identify failure modes of plant equipment and return equipment to operation safely and promptly.
• Diagnose and repair equipment breakdowns.
• Liaise with day teams to identify and resolve long-term issues.
• Locate spare parts using CMMS; collect and return spares to stores.
• Identify failure modes of electrical equipment and recommend fixes.
• Obtain maintenance schedules from CMMS and record work via notifications.
• Carry out preventive maintenance routines.
• Collaborate with other Mechanical Maintenance Engineers to complete planned preventive maintenance on schedule.
