Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a busy manufacturing site in the Ewyas Harold area. The role is on a Monday to Friday schedule with two alternating shifts, 6am–3pm and 2pm–10pm, and offers a salary up to £48,000 plus bonus.

You will identify failure modes, diagnose and repair equipment, liaise with day teams, manage spares, and carry out planned maintenance tasks to keep manufacturing lines running efficiently.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer role within manufacturing.
• Ability to motivate others, work under pressure.
• Accurate and timely reporting skills.
• Completed an apprenticeship as a Maintenance Engineer.
• Working knowledge of good engineering practices.
• NVQ level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience with fabrication, welding and machining (preferable).

Responsibilities

• Identify failure modes of plant equipment and return to operation safely and quickly.
• Diagnose and repair equipment breakdowns.
• Liaise with engineering day teams to resolve long‑term issues.
• Locate spare parts using the maintenance management system and manage stores.
• Identify failure modes of electrical equipment and recommend preventions.
• Carry out preventive maintenance routines and coordinate with teams for scheduling.
