Job summary

Marshalls plc in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to ensure continuous production by diagnosing faults and maintaining complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. The role involves a 42-hour week with day/night rotating shifts.

Successful candidates will have strong mechanical knowledge with electrical experience, formal time-served training or equivalent, and a hands-on approach to maintaining a range of plant equipment in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical knowledge with electrical experience is essential.
  • Time served or apprentice training with relevant certifications.
  • Knowledge of environmental, health and safety issues and regulatory requirements.
  • Hands-on approach to maintenance and fault finding.
  • Experience maintaining various plant equipment and systems.
  • Experience in electrical fault finding and routine maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure continuous running of the production process by eliminating downtime through fault-finding and maintenance of equipment.
  • Work on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic control systems.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to diagnose and rectify faults.

So, what's the mission?

Your main responsibilities will be to ensure the continuous running of the production process by eliminating downtime through a safe and logical approach to fault-finding and maintenance of equipment. You will work on various types of equipment including complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic control systems.

Working 42 hours per week, the current shift pattern covers days and nights, Monday - Sunday.

What are the mission critical skills?
  • A good mechanical working knowledge with electrical experience is essential
  • Time served/apprentice trained in a similar position with qualifications (C&G 2320 P1 & P2, ONC, NVQ 3 or equivalent)
  • Good understanding of current environmental, health, and safety issues and knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Practical hands-on approach
  • Have significant experience, understanding, and knowledge of the maintenance of a variety of plants
  • Experience in electrical fault finding, defect rectification, and routine maintenance activities
  • Ability to interrogate/understand maintenance problems to provide accurate plant condition information/recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, dealing with operatives, Team leaders from both maintenance and production
