Job summary

Marshalls plc in Burton upon Trent is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer. The role covers planned preventative maintenance and breakdown support on process equipment, with a 3-week rotating pattern of days and nights (06:00–18:00 and 18:00–06:00).

There is no Sunday work; you will be expected to work 1 in every 3 Saturdays. Salary is £49,305 to £53,519 per annum DOE, including shift allowance, with overtime paid at a premium and a benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical maintenance within manufacturing.
  • NVQ Level 3 or time served apprenticeship.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide planned preventative maintenance across the Burton site.
  • Respond to breakdowns promptly to minimise downtime.
  • Ensure safe, compliant operation and maintain records.

Our operations are organised into three distinct divisions: Landscape Products, Building Products, and Roofing Products and it is within our Marley business that we are looking to recruit a Mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer on a shift basis as detailed below.

So what's the mission?

The role of the Maintenance Engineer is to provide a range of Engineering Support and Maintenance services across the Burton Manufacturing site. Predominantly the role is for Planned Preventative Maintenance and Breakdown Response on process equipment in production and support areas. The aim is to ensure that all equipment is maintained effectively, and all breakdowns / repairs are carried out efficiently and safely.

What are the mission-critical skills?
  • Mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ideally apprentice trained to NVQ level 3 or time served
  • Competent and experienced in core mechanical workshop skills (fitting, hydraulics and pneumatics)
  • Experience in fabrication and welding would be beneficial
  • Basic PLC fault finding skills would be an advantage
  • CMMS experience ideally SAP - PM Module
  • Good understanding of current environmental and health and safety issues and associated regulatory requirements
  • Experience of contractor control systems
  • Experience in mechanical fault finding, defect rectification and routine maintenance activities
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
