Job summary

Marshalls plc in Keele is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to cover a continental shift pattern (4 on 4 off) from 6:30am–6:30pm and 6:30pm–6:30am. The role focuses on planned maintenance and breakdown response on production equipment at Keele, ensuring safe, efficient operation and minimal downtime.

The ideal candidate is apprentice-trained with NVQ Level 3, with experience in mechanical fitting, hydraulics, pneumatics and fabrication.

Qualifications

  • Apprentice-trained mechanical engineer with NVQ Level 3.
  • Experience in mechanical fitting, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Fabrication and welding experience is advantageous.
  • Strong team player with attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Good command of English, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support and maintenance across Keele site.
  • Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance and breakdown repairs.
  • Maintain equipment safely and efficiently to minimize downtime.
  • Support production and other maintenance teams.

£49,764 (including shift allowance) + overtime (paid at a premium) + benefits

So what's the mission?

The role of the Maintenance Engineer is to provide a range of Engineering Support and Maintenance services across the Keele Manufacturing site. Predominantly the role is for Planned Preventative Maintenance and Breakdown Response on process equipment in production and support areas. The aim is to ensure that all equipment is maintained effectively, and all breakdowns / repairs are carried out efficiently and safely

What are the mission-critical skills?
  • Good working knowledge of mechanical engineering
  • Apprentice-trained Mechanical Engineer to NVQ Level 3
  • Experience in mechanical fitting, hydraulics and pneumatics will be an advantage
  • Experience in fabrication and welding would be beneficial
  • Team player with attention to detail
  • Good understanding of current environmental and health and safety issues and knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Experience in mechanical fault finding, defect rectification and routine maintenance activities
  • Excellent level of English, oral and written
