Job summary

Marshalls plc, a leading UK manufacturer, seeks a Lead Maintenance Engineer in Sittingbourne. You will head a two-engineer team to keep production running by fault finding and maintaining complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic systems.

The role involves 42 hours per week with a 4 on 4 off pattern, including days and nights. You will handle planned and reactive maintenance on site, ensuring safety and efficiency, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce downtime and

Qualifications

  • Electrical and/or mechanical qualifications, preferably time served apprenticeship.
  • Experience in operating in a medium/large automated manufacturing operation.
  • Experience leading an engineering team is desirable but not essential.
  • Good understanding of health and safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in electrical fault finding, defect rectification and planned maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of two engineers on shift to ensure continuous production, minimising downtime.
  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance on site across hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and control systems.
  • Work 42 hours per week on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, covering day and night shifts.

Lead Maintenance Engineer

£57,596 per annum (including shift allowance) plus overtime & benefits

Our operations are organised into three distinct divisions: Landscape Products, Building Products, and Roofing Products.

Marshalls Landscaping delivers innovative hard landscaping solutions for projects across the UK, from city centre transformations and public realm schemes to housing developments and community spaces and it's in this division that we are looking to recruit a Lead Maintenance Engineer.

So, what's the mission?

Your main responsibilities will be to lead a team of two engineers on shift, to ensure the continuous running of the production process by eliminating downtime through a safe and logical approach to fault finding and maintenance of equipment. You and your team will work on various different types of equipment, including complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic control systems.

You will be responsible for carrying out a range of planned and reactive engineering activities on site. Working 42 hours per week, the shift pattern is 4 on 4 off covering both days and nights, 6:00am to 6:00pm & 6:00pm to 6:00am

What are the mission critical skills?
  • Electrical and/or mechanical qualifications (preferably time served apprenticeship)
  • Previous experience of operating in a medium / large automated manufacturing operation
  • Experience of leading an engineering team would be preferable, although not essential
  • Good understanding of current environmental and health and safety issues and knowledge of associated regulatory requirements
  • Experience in electrical fault finding, defect rectification, and routine maintenance activities
  • Ability to interrogate / understand maintenance problems to provide accurate plant condition information / recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, dealing with operatives, Team leaders from both maintenance and production
  • PLC And VSD Knowledge is advantageous
  • Previous experience in mechanical fitting, hydraulics, and pneumatics
