Join to apply for the Mechanical Fitter role at Hargreaves Industrial Services

We are seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join our team on a permanent basis. The position is based in Derbyshire / Mansfield / Nottingham areas within our Severn Trent Engineering contract.

Salary: £40-50,000 inclusive of overtime

Closing Date: 13th May 2025

Role Overview

The Mechanical Fitter will work independently or as part of a team, including electrical craftsmen, providing planned and reactive maintenance, as well as new plant installations and upgrades under the guidance of the framework manager. The role requires mechanical qualifications and versatile skills to support the wider engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Comply with HIS/STW SHEQ procedures
• Perform PPM and RCM tasks as scheduled
• Conduct defect repairs on Mechanical equipment within the scope of service
• Apply and remove mechanical isolations following PTW systems
• Fault diagnosis and troubleshooting
• Identify opportunities for process and engineering improvements
• Work from drawings, install, and commission new equipment
• Diagnose and repair plant breakdowns
• Operate workshop tools and equipment
• Complete documentation, reports, and records accurately
• Provide professional support to clients and the engineering team
• Promote safety and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure high standards of work completion
• Communicate progress and issues effectively with clients and managers
• Support a safety-first culture and deliver work on time

Candidate Requirements

• Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification, with at least 2 years' experience on mechanical plant and installations
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and best practices
• Experience in fault diagnostics and repair
• Confined space certification (Level 3) or ability to obtain
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Site inductions and safety training compliance
• Rigging, slinging, and FLT qualification (preferred)
• UK Driving Licence, C1 category (3500kg – 7500kg)
• Positive safety attitude, flexibility, and resilience under pressure
