A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical Fitter to join our team within our Severn Trent Engineering contract in Derbyshire / Mansfield / Nottingham areas.

The Mechanical Fitter role involves working independently or as part of a team, including electrical craftsmen, to provide service support such as planned and reactive maintenance, as well as new plant installations and upgrades under the framework contracts, as directed by the framework manager. The role requires mechanical qualifications and broader skills, contributing to the wider engineering team when necessary.

The role briefly encompasses the following duties:

  1. Work to/ comply with HIS/STW SHEQ procedures
  2. Carry out PPM as per site schedules
  3. Carry out RCM as per site schedules
  4. Perform planned defect repairs on all Mechanical equipment within the HIS Service delivery scope
  5. Apply and remove mechanical isolations and comply with PTW systems
  6. Conduct fault finding activities
  7. Identify opportunities for engineering and process control improvements
  8. Work from drawings, install, and commission new equipment
  9. Attend, diagnose, and agree on repair processes for plant breakdowns
  10. Operate workshop equipment and tools
  11. Complete all necessary documentation, reports, and records
  12. Provide efficient and professional support to the Client and Engineering team
  13. Identify and implement continuous improvements and innovations
  14. Ensure work is completed to a high standard
  15. Communicate progress or issues to Clients and Framework Manager
  16. Promote a proactive safety culture on all projects
  17. Assist in delivering works on time

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/attributes:

  • Served apprenticeship or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years' experience working on mechanical equipment, plant, and installations
  • Understanding of applicable regulations and legislation
  • Experience in fault diagnostics and repair solutions
  • Ability to undertake and pass level 3 confined space training
  • Ability to see work through to completion
  • Strong communication skills at all levels
  • Willingness to undertake all site inductions and safety training
  • Rigging, slinging, and FLT driving skills and qualifications (preferable)
  • Hold a UK Driving Licence including C1 category (3500kg - 7500kg)
