CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent
SALARY: £40-50,000 inclusive of overtime
CLOSING DATE: 13th May 2025

A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical Fitter to join our team within our Severn Trent Engineering contract in Derbyshire / Mansfield / Nottingham areas.

The Mechanical Fitter role exists to work either alone or as part of a team including alongside electrical craftsmen to provide a service support including both planned and reactive maintenance along with new plant installations and upgrades to the framework contracts as instructed by the framework manager. Being mechanically qualified with wider skills the role will also form part of the wider engineering team when needed.

The role briefly encompasses the following duties: -

  • Work to/ Comply with HIS/STW SHEQ procedures
  • Carry out PPM as per site schedules
  • Carry out RCM as per site schedules
  • Carry out planned defect repairs on all Mechanical equipment in the HIS Service delivery scope
  • Ability to apply and remove mechanical isolations and comply with PTW systems
  • Ability to carry out fault finding activities
  • Able to identify engineered and process control improvement opportunities
  • Ability to work to drawings, install and commission new equipment
  • Attend, diagnose, and agree repair processes for plant breakdowns
  • Operate Workshop equipment and tools
  • Carry out site operational tasks in accordance with training, site procedures and supervisor instructions
  • Complete all necessary documents, reports, and records
  • Provide and efficient and professional support service to the Client and Engineering team
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements and innovation.
  • Ensure the work is completed to a high standard
  • Communicate with Clients and Framework Manager on progress or any issues arising
  • Assist in promoting a proactive safety culture on all projects to drive for zero harm culture
  • Assist in delivering works on time

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/ attributes:-

  • Served Apprenticeship/Equivalent and a minimum of x2 year experience, working on mechanical equipment plant and installations.
  • Understanding of applicable regulations and legislations
  • Experience of fault diagnostics & repair solutions.
  • Undertake and pass level 3 confined space
  • Ability to see work to completion
  • Strong communication skills at all levels
  • Undertake all site inductions and safety training needed
  • Rigging and slinging and FLT driving skills and qualifications preferable
  • Hold UK Driving Licence including C1 category (3500kg – 7500kg)
  • Positive attitude to safety
  • Strong team player
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to timescale
  • Adhere to safety procedures and comply with all instructions, rules and procedures.
