Job summary

The Simply Recruitment Group is recruiting a Mechanical Fitter for a permanent role in Chorley. The position offers a four-day week (Monday to Thursday) with a salary of around £37,500 to £39,950 per year, plus holiday and pension benefits.

You will assemble and modify mechanical equipment from engineering drawings, conduct quality inspections and tests, and prepare assemblies for dispatch. Travel to UK and overseas sites may be required as part of commissioning work.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering qualification such as City & Guilds or equivalent.
• Time-served apprenticeship.
• Practical experience working with complex mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, specifications and written instructions.
• Strong communication skills and a reliable, self-motivated approach.
• Commitment to quality, teamwork and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and modify mechanical equipment using drawings and specifications.
• Carry out quality inspections, functional testing and equipment checks.

• Support equipment installation and commissioning at customer sites, including UK and overseas travel where required.
• Identify and report faults, quality issues and non-conformances.
• Maintain accurate build records and work closely with engineering, production and project teams.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and contribute to continuous improvement.

Job description

Salary is c£37500 - 39,950 per annum plus 25 days' holiday and bank holidays, pension, healthcare etc.
