Pioneer Selection Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Fitter for a well-established heavy industrial manufacturer in the Greater Morecambe area. The role involves hands-on maintenance across large-scale production machinery, fabrication, welding, and repairs, with emphasis on hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems.

The successful candidate will perform fault finding, plant maintenance, and support equipment start-ups, working a 4 on 4 off days-only shift.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in mechanical fitting and maintenance.
• Hands-on bench work experience.
• Fabrication and welding experience.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Familiarity with boiler/steam systems.
• Experience with plant inspections and maintenance.
• Experience with workshop machinery and equipment is desirable.
• Boiler and steam systems familiarity is preferred.
• Plant inspections and ongoing maintenance are part of the role.

Responsabilités

• Carry out mechanical maintenance on large-scale production machinery.
• Perform fault finding and repairs to equipment.
• Fabricate, weld and bench fit components as required.
• Support equipment start-ups and plant improvements.

Job Role of the Mechanical Fitter

A well-established industrial manufacturer in the Greater Morecambe area is looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join its engineering team. This is a varied, hands-on role working across large-scale production machinery and auxiliary plant, carrying out mechanical maintenance, fault finding and workshop-based repairs. You'll be involved in fabrication, welding and bench fitting, alongside maintaining hydraulic, pneumatic and steam systems. The role also offers opportunities to support equipment start-ups and plant improvements, making it ideal for a mechanically skilled engineer who enjoys practical, varied engineering work.

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Mechanical Fitter

• Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification (NVQ or equivalent).
• Mechanical fitting or maintenance experience.
• Hands-on bench work experience.

• Planned and reactive maintenance.
