Job summary

Proactive Global is recruiting a Mechanical Fitter for a leading manufacturer in Luton. The role involves reading detailed engineering drawings, understanding quality plans, assembling/disassembling and rigging units, painting and preparing them for despatch, and demonstrating competent use of measuring equipment.

You will work Monday to Friday with Week 1: 6am–2:30pm and Week 2: 2:30pm–10pm, using ERP to log operations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pressure testing on components and units with proper documentation.

• Book onto and close operations on completion using the ERP system.
• Work within team and cross-functional teams to ensure RFT and OTIF.
• Maintain high standards of 5S and keep environment clean.
• Adhere to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.

Position: Mechanical Fitter

Salary: £46,000 per annum

Location: Luton

Hours: Monday - Friday

Week 1- 6am - 2:30pm

Proactive currently have an exciting opportunity for an Mechanical Fitter to begin work for a leading manufacturer in Luton. Due to rapid company expansion and an ever growing order book, our client is hoping to recruit at least one additional Mechanical Fitter to help ensure the quality and accuracy of the factory's function is well maintained.

Job Responsibilities:

• Read detailed engineering drawings.
• Understand quality plans and procedures.
• Assemble/disassemble & Rig/de-rig all units.
• Paint and preparing units for despatch.
• Demonstrate competent use of measuring equipment.
• Produce dimensional reports and strip inspections reports.
• Conduct pressure testing on components and units whilst ensuring that the relevant documents are completed.
• Demonstrate ability to safely use air powered and electrical tools.
• Book onto and close operations on completion using the ERP system.
• Work within team and all cross functional teams to ensure contractual obligations are achieved Right First Time (RFT) and On Time in Full (OTIF).
• Ensure that regular 5S duties are carried out to sustain a clean environment.
• Adhere to all health and safety aspects related to Assembly and ensure that a zero-accident environment is maintained. Maintain high standards at all times, report problems or deviations associated with H&S to the responsible Manager/Supervisor.
• Ensure that Health & Safety, Quality and Environment assurance, control and regulatory compliance are demonstrated, by working in accordance with the documented Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and instructions.

What you will need:

• 4 years' experience working in a manufacturing environment utilising fitting skill.
• Recognised qualification in a mechanical discipline.
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
• Time served craft apprenticeship and experience with rotating assemblies are desirable.
