Job summary

Gold Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in the Birmingham/Smethwick area to service and maintain ventilation, pumps, boilers, medical gases and water systems within a large facilities management group.

The role requires hands-on experience in maintenance, a valid driving licence, and a proactive approach to ensuring compliant operations and minimal disruption to wards and departments. DBS check is essential.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds/NVQ levels 2 and 3 in engineering.
• Recognised apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience in a maintenance environment.
• Strong knowledge of ventilation, pumps, boilers, medical gases, heating systems and domestic water systems.
• Current valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and service ventilation, pumps, boilers and other building services.
• Respond to reactive maintenance, diagnose faults and repair complex mechanical systems.
• Obtain Competent Person status for specialist ventilation and medical gas installations.
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance across site.
• Coordinate with wards/departments to minimise disruption while work is carried out.
• Participate in the on-call rota.

Mechanical Engineer needed for a large, well-known Facilities Management organisation based in Birmingham who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Mechanical Engineer that takes pride in their work with an in-depth knowledge of ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems, domestic hot and cold-water systems

What the role entails:

• Work on the following but not limited to; ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems, domestic hot and cold-water systems
• Undertake a proactive role in responding to reactive jobs to complete diagnostic, fault finding and repair to complex mechanical systems in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance
• Obtain Competent Person status following training and instruction for systems such as specialist ventilation system, complex water systems and medical gas installations
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks to services across site on various aspects of the building services in accordance with the PPM programme and personal competence and training
• Ensure liaison with Wards and Departments as required, ensuring there is minimum disruption whilst carrying out work.
• Take part in call out rota

What experience you need to be the successful Mechanical Engineer:

• City and Guilds/NVQ levels 2 and 3
• Recognised apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline to City & Guilds level
• Previously worked within a maintenance environment
• Good knowledge and understand of a range of complex mechanical systems including but not limited to ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems, domestic hot and cold-water systems
• Possess a current valid driving licence

This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
