Job summary

Gold Group in Birmingham is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a large facilities management client. The role covers ventilation, pumps, boilers, medical gases, heating and hot/cold water systems.

You will perform proactive maintenance and respond to reactive jobs, completing diagnostics and carrying out PPM tasks across a busy site. DBS check is essential and a valid UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Relevant City & Guilds/NVQ level 2 or 3 in Mechanical discipline.
• Recognised apprenticeship in engineering.
• DBS Standard check is essential.
• Valid UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Work on ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating and hot/cold-water systems.
• Respond to reactive jobs with diagnostics and fault finding.
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks across site.
• Liaise with wards/departments to minimise disruption and participate in call-out rota.

Mechanical Engineer needed for a large, well-known Facilities Management organisation based in Birmingham who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Mechanical Engineer that takes pride in their work with an in-depth knowledge of ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems, domestic hot and cold-water systems

The successful candidate would desirably have a relevant qualification - i.e. City and Guilds/NVQ levels 2 or 3 in a Mechanical discipline etc. - and have a keen interest in Mechanical Engineering. If you have commercial experience in a healthcare setting that would be a plus!

What the role entails:

Some of the main duties of the Mechanical Engineer will include:

• Work on the following but not limited to; ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems, domestic hot and cold-water systems
• Undertake a proactive role in responding to reactive jobs to complete diagnostic, fault finding and repair to complex mechanical systems in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance
• Obtain Competent Person status following training and instruction for systems such as specialist ventilation system, complex water systems and medical gas installations
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks to services across site on various aspects of the building services in accordance with the PPM programme and personal competence and training
• Ensure liaison with Wards and Departments as required, ensuring there is minimum disruption whilst carrying out work.
• Take part in call out rota

What experience you need to be the successful Mechanical Engineer:

• City and Guilds/NVQ levels 2 and 3
• Recognised apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline to City & Guilds level
• Previously worked within a maintenance environment
• Good knowledge and understand of a range of complex mechanical systems including but not limited to ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems, domestic hot and cold-water systems
• Possess a current valid driving licence

This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
