Job summary

Europe’s No. 1 Missile Systems Designer is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer on a 12 Month Contract with on-site involvement in the UK.

The role involves working with a multi-disciplinary team to progress developmental designs into production and engaging with suppliers on technical queries. Essential experience includes Creo 3D design, with exposure to manufacturing processes, environmental testing, and design for manufacture/assembly.

Qualifications

• Essential: Experience using Creo 3D design tool
• Mixture of manufacturing processes, tolerance studies, environmental test, mass property calculations, material selection, FMEA, DfM/DFX, environmental gasket sealing, structural design, defence standards, review processes, product lifecycles, industrial validation, and ability to work in a multifunctional engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, of both piece parts and assemblies.
• Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects.
• Support to functional & environmental testing and trials.
• Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.
• Planning and reporting on own day-to-day activities to meet project milestones.
• Gain clarification of and help to generate requirements, including challenging of extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, UPC and design complexity.

12 Month Contract (initially – extension likely)

Up to £50 per hour umbrella (Inside IR35)

Circa 4 days per week on site (could be some flex on this week to week)

Job Role:

An opportunity to become part of Europe’s No. 1 Missile Systems Designer, as a Mechanical Design Engineer. You will work closely with other functional teams, to develop products to meet our customer’s needs. Within this role you will have the opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to perform a range of engineering activities including progressing developmental designs into production environments and working with suppliers on technical queries.
