Job summary

Morson Edge is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join Europe’s No. 1 Missile Systems Designer. You will work with multifunctional teams to progress developmental designs into production and collaborate with suppliers on technical queries.

The role focuses on mechanical design activities, manufacturing liaison, and support for testing and validation. On-site presence is preferred in Stevenage under a 12-month contract with potential extension.

Qualifications

• Essential: A mix of the following skills and experience as part of a multifunctional engineering team.
• Experience using Creo 3D design tool and knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with tolerance studies, environmental testing and mass property calculations.
• Experience with material selection, FMEA and design for manufacture/assembly.
• Knowledge of environmental gasket sealing, structural design and defence standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, of both piece parts and assemblies.
• Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects.
• Support to functional & environmental testing and trials.
• Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.
• Planning and reporting on own day-to-day activities to meet project milestones.
• Gain clarification of and help to generate requirements, including challenging extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, UPC and design complexity

12 Month Contract (initially - extension likely)

Up to £50 per hour umbrella (Inside IR35)

Circa 4 days per week on site (could be some flex on this week to week)

Job Role:

An opportunity to become part of Europe's No. 1 Missile Systems Designer, as a Mechanical Design Engineer. You will work closely with other functional teams, to develop products to meet our customer’s needs. Within this role you will have the opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to perform a range of engineering activities including progressing developmental designs into production environments and working with suppliers on technical queries.

Key Responsibilities:
