Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Bristol to join a multidisciplinary team supporting defence product development. You will conduct mechanical design and proving activities for parts and assemblies, liaising with manufacturing to resolve issues and supporting testing and trials.

You will work with suppliers and across engineering disciplines to meet milestones, generate and clarify requirements, and help reduce lead time and design complexity.

Qualifications

• Experience using Creo 3D design tool.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, of both piece parts and assemblies.
• Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects.
• Support to functional & environmental testing and trials.
• Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.
• Planning and reporting on own day-to-day activities to meet project milestones.
• Gain clarification of and help to generate requirements, including challenging of extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, UPC and design complexity

Location: Bristol, 4 days per week on-site; 1 day remote (flexible start/finish times.)
Duration: 6 months (extension possible)
Rate: £40-£50 per hour (Umbrella)
IR35: Inside
Clearance: SC (potential BPSS start); UK Eyes Only

Overview

An opportunity to join a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting the development of complex defence products. You'll work closely with other functional teams to progress developmental designs into production environments, and support suppliers/manufacturing with technical queries and delivery against milestones.

Responsibilities:
