Job summary

World Class Defence Organisation is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a 6‑month contract. You will work on advanced missile systems, using Creo 3D for design and validation, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities for parts and assemblies in a multi‑discipline team.
• Support manufacturing to resolve production issues and defects.
• Assist environmental and functional testing and trials.
• Liaise with suppliers/purchasing for technical queries.
• Plan and report on day‑to‑day activities to meet milestones.
• Clarify and generate requirements, challenging extraneous ones to reduce lead time.

World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer subcontractors on an initial 6 month contract.

This role would suit a Mechanical Design Engineer who comes from a strong Defence or Aerospace background has strong Creo / PRO-E skills.

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Rate: £50.00 per hour

Location: Stevenage or Bristol (depending on your preference)

Hybrid / Remote working: 4 days a week likely onsite (likely could be lower on a week by week basis; depending on work). 1 day remote. (flexible on start and finish time).

Contract: 37 Hours per week

Overtime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at ‘time and a quarter’

Duration: 6 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)

IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)

Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description:

• Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, of both piece parts and assemblies.
• Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects.
• Support to functional & environmental testing and trials.
• Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.
• Planning and reporting on own day-to-day activities to meet project milestones.
• Gain clarification of and help to generate requirements, including challenging of extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, UPC and design complexity
