Job summary

Morson Edge is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join Europe’s No. 1 missile systems designer. You will develop products with a cross-functional team, progressing designs from development into production while collaborating with suppliers on technical queries.

Key tasks include design, manufacturing support, environmental testing, and driving design reviews within a multi-disciplinary environment. On-site, 12-month contract with potential extension.

Qualifications

• Experience using Creo 3D design tool.
• A mixture of manufacturing processes, tolerance studies, environmental test, mass property calculations, material selection, FMEA, and Design for Manufacture/Assembly.
• Experience in handling Environmental Gasket Sealing and Structural design, with Defence Standards.
• Ability to work within a multifunctional engineering team and participate in design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities for prime and variant products (parts and assemblies).
• Support manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems and defects.
• Support functional and environmental testing and trials.
• Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve technical queries.
• Plan and report day-to-day activities to meet project milestones.
• Clarify and generate requirements, challenging extraneous ones to reduce lead time and design complexity.

12 Month Contract (initially - extension likely)

Up to £50 per hour umbrella (Inside IR35)

Circa 4 days per week on site (could be some flex on this week to week)

Job Role:

An opportunity to become part of Europe's No. 1 Missile Systems Designer, as a Mechanical Design Engineer. You will work closely with other functional teams, to develop products to meet our customer's needs. Within this role you will have the opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to perform a range of engineering activities including progressing developmental designs into production environments and working with suppliers on technical queries.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, of both piece parts and assemblies.
• Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects.
• Support to functional & environmental testing and trials.
• Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.
• Planning and reporting on own day-to-day activities to meet project milestones.
• Gain clarification of and help to generate requirements, including challenging of extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, UPC and design complexity
