Job summary

Vantage Consulting Limited is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer on a contract basis in Kettering. The role covers site surveys, mechanical design and 3D CAD work to support factory layouts, pipework and machinery projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong 3D CAD skills, experience with pipework and machine guarding, and the ability to work independently on site surveys and design projects. This is a contract position in the Kettering area.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical design engineering.
• Solid 3D CAD experience.
• Experience with pipework, guarding and factory layouts would be advantageous.
• Good understanding of standards and documentation.
• Ability to work independently on site surveys and design projects.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Design Engineer - Contract

Location: Kettering
Rate: £30-£40 per hour
Contract: Initial contract position

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a manufacturing/engineering environment in Kettering on a contract basis.

The role will involve a mixture of site surveying, mechanical design and 3D CAD, supporting factory layouts, pipework and machinery projects.

Key responsibilities:

• Survey existing and new pipework runs and produce relevant documentation.
• Survey and design machine guarding, ensuring designs are practical and compliant with relevant engineering standards.
• Produce 3D models for new factory layouts and skids.
• Produce 2D plan drawings of factory layouts.
• Prepare supporting technical documentation.
• Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver practical design solutions.

Ideal background:

• Mechanical Design Engineering experience.
• Strong 3D CAD experience.
• Experience with pipework, machine guarding, factory layouts or skids would be advantageous.
• Good understanding of engineering standards and technical documentation.
• Able to work independently on site surveys and design projects.
