Job summary

Seismic Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a 12-month contract in Desford, Leicestershire (LE9). The role is fully on site with core hours 08:00-16:00.

You will design ground-engaging tools, create 3D models in Creo, support NPI, manage projects and work with Teamcenter, with eligibility to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience with 3D CAD, preferably Creo/Pro-E.
• Experience designing structural fabrications and components.
• Experience using PLM systems, preferably Teamcenter.
• Strong knowledge of product development and NPIs.
• Experience managing multiple engineering projects.
• Understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with heavy equipment advantageous. UK right to work required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop ground-engaging tools and attachments (buckets, forks, material-handling equipment).
• Create 3D models and detailed drawings using Creo/Pro-E.
• Design structural fabrications and mechanical components.
• Support new product introduction from concept through production.
• Release designs and changes using Teamcenter.
• Work with analysis teams and interpret FEA results.
• Support prototype builds, testing and validation.
• Contribute to validation plans to meet reliability targets.
• Manage and support multiple engineering projects concurrently.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the lifecycle.

£25.40ph PAYE + Holiday and Pension or £37.77ph via an Umbrella company

Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with strong CAD and product development experience? If so, this could be a great opportunity for you.

What the Mechanical Design Engineer will do:

• Design and develop ground-engaging tools and attachments, including buckets, forks and material-handling equipment
• Create 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using Creo / Pro-E
• Design structural fabrications, mechanical components and hydromechanical attachments
• Support new product introduction projects from initial concept through to production
• Release new designs and current production changes using Teamcenter
• Work alongside analysis teams and interpret FEA results
• Support prototype builds, design fit-up, testing and product validation
• Contribute to validation plans to ensure products achieve reliability targets
• Manage and support multiple engineering projects simultaneously
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the full product development lifecycle

What the Mechanical Design Engineer will need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or significant relevant industry experience
• Experience using 3D CAD software, preferably Creo / Pro-E
• Experience designing structural fabrications and mechanical components
• Experience using PLM systems, preferably Teamcenter
• Good understanding of product development and NPI processes
• Experience supporting projects from concept through design, testing and validation
• Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver engineering projects successfully
• Good understanding of engineering materials and manufacturing processes

Experience within heavy equipment, off-highway machinery, construction equipment or attachments would be advantageous. Candidates with transferable mechanical design experience from manufacturing, industrial equipment, aerospace or rail will also be considered.
