Job summary

Ganymede Solutions Limited is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a 6-month contract in the Middlesbrough area. The role focuses on 3D modelling in SolidWorks, designing enclosure modifications, brackets, manifolds and internal layouts.

You will maintain existing 3D models and engineering drawings, issue manufacturing drawings to required standards, and apply tolerances. SolidWorks and PDM experience are essential; early training on PDM is available.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical engineering preferred; strong design experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• 3D modelling in SolidWorks including enclosures, brackets, manifolds and layouts.
• Support and maintain existing 3D models and drawings.
• Finalize and issue manufacturing drawings to required standards.
• Define and apply tolerances across components.
• Attend weekly cross-functional meetings with PMs and leads.
• Daily catch-ups with the mechanical team lead to review workload and progress.

I am currently recruiting on behalf of a key client-based Teesside who are globally recognised engineering and manufacturing business operating across several high-profile industries including defence, marine & offshore. Due to a new project win, they are looking for experienced Mechanical Design Engineers & Draughtsman to join their team on an interim basis for an initial 3-6-month contract.

• 3D modelling in SolidWorks - designing enclosure modifications, bespoke brackets, manifolds and internal component layouts
• Supporting, updating and maintaining existing 3D models and engineering drawings
• Finalising and issuing manufacturing drawings to the required standard
• Defining and applying appropriate tolerances across all designed components
• Attending weekly cross-functional project meetings with project managers and technical leads
• Daily catchups with the mechanical team lead to review workload and progress

The successful contractor will need to have the following attributes:

• Solid, hands-on SolidWorks experience used in a real working environment
• Familiarity with assemblies and a mix of commercial off-the-shelf and bespoke parts
• Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings
• Background in mechanical design or draughting - degree qualified ideally, though strong experience will be considered
• PDM experience desirable but not essential - full training provided
