Job summary

ARM in Filton is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer on a contract up to 31 July 2027. The role is based in Filton with a rate of 46 per hour Inside IR35, focusing on end-to-end design for a Defence and Aerospace program and requiring CATIA V5 expertise.

You will work with CATIA V5 and design configuration toolsets such as PASS, DPDS, VPM, ICC/ACP; contribute to Fuel System installations, manufacturing-ready dossiers, and manufacturing site support.

Qualifications

• Experience using CATIA V5 for mechanical design.
• Familiar with design configuration toolsets (PASS, DPDS, VPM, ICC/ACP).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to end-to-end design from concept to maturity gates,DFM and manufacturing support.
• Design and validate Fuel System installations optimized for weight, cost and performance.
• Deliver the Definition Dossier for Manufacturing and Assembly.
• Define and enable technical studies to ensure delivery of technical solutions per methods and procedures.
• Work on design concepts for incremental development with prototyping as needed.
• Manage introduction of modifications and support in-service fleet and wing build.

As the Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be working alongside a market–leading Defence and Aerospace company who are constantly growing and developing. You will be involved in:

• Contribute to the 'end–to–end' design process from conceptual design, modification process in support of maturity gates, DFM, and support to manufacturing sites
• Design and validation of Fuel System installation components and assemblies that are optimized in terms of weight, cost, performance, production/assembly requirements
• Deliver the Definition Dossier for Manufacturing and Assembly (Component and Final Assembly Line)
• Define, deliver, and enable technical studies, trades, and investigations to ensure the delivery of technical solutions in accordance with relevant Design Methods and Procedures
• Work on design concepts in support of product incremental development and apply real–life installation trials and prototyping when required
• Manage the introduction of new modifications, provide support to the in–service fleet, and wing build–support

Your skillet may include:
