Job summary

Line Up Aviation seeks a Mechanical Systems Installation Design Engineer for a contract role in Filton, on site. You will develop fuel system installation designs for commercial aircraft, focusing on weight, cost, and safety while coordinating with customers and suppliers.

You will deliver the Definition Dossier for Manufacturing, apply relevant design methods, and support new modifications and in-service fleet activities. Strong Catia V5, PASS/DPDS/VPM/ICC/ACP experience is essential.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to end-to-end design from conceptual to manufacturing support.

• Lead technical studies and investigations to enable delivery of technical solutions.
• Support product incremental development and run installation trials when required.

Job description

Our client has an opportunity for a Mechanical Systems Installation Design Engineer to join them on a contract basis until July 2027 with possible extension.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop your Fuel Systems Installation Design skills across the full range of commercial aircraft as well as the opportunity to engage with a variety of customers, stakeholders and suppliers.

Role: Mechanical Systems Installation Design Engineer
Location: Filton - fully onsite
Hourly Rate: £46 per hour via Umbrella, inside IR35
Clearance: BPSS required to start
Hours: 37 hours per week

What you'll be doing:

• Contribute to the 'end to end' design process from conceptual design, modification process in support of maturity gates, DFM and support to manufacturing sites
• Design and validation of Fuel System installation components and assemblies that are optimized in terms of weight, cost, performance, production/assembly requirements while highest safety of the product is assured using appropriate design tools
• Deliver the Definition Dossier for Manufacturing and Assembly (Component and Final Assembly Line)
• Define, deliver and enable technical studies, trades and investigations to ensure the delivery of technical solutions in accordance with relevant Design Methods and Procedures
• Work on design concepts in support of product incremental development and apply real life installation trials and prototyping when required.
• Manage the introduction of new modifications, provide support to the in-service fleet and wing build-supportRequirements:

• Experience in design configuration tool sets i.e. PASS, DPDS, VPM, ICC/ACP etc
