Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board seeks a Mechanical Craftsperson to maintain boilers, steam systems, medical gases, heating, hot water and associated building services across hospital sites. The role supports site operations and requires flexibility to cover morning and afternoon shifts with an on-call rota.

The successful candidate will work as part of the engineering team to ensure services meet safety and reliability standards, with on-site duties across multiple campuses in Carmarthenshire.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintaining building services mechanical/electrical systems.
• Ability to work with boilers, steam systems and medical gases.
• Willingness to cover morning/afternoon shifts and participate in an on-call rota.

Job description

To provide a safe, comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Ensuring all essential services are maintained to support clinical departments in their task of treating patients, whilst ensuring all statutory legislation is complied with., The Mechanical Craftsperson will be part of a team ensuring that mechanical/electrical/building equipment and services are maintained to an appropriate standard and to support clinical service departments in their prime task of treating patients.

The appointed individual will support the site operational management staff with the day to day operational engineering maintenance of boilers, steam systems, medical gases, heating, hot water, buildings, etc. The position requires participation/ flexibility in covering morning/ afternoon shifts and to participate in an on-call rota.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

Monday-Friday 13:30 - 21:00hrs, PLUS on-call during each night.

PLUS on-call cover from Friday 21:00hrs until 08:00hrs Monday morning.
