Job summary

Unknown company is seeking Mechanics - Technicians for a busy commercial vehicle workshop in Reading. The role requires a mechanical or technician background across commercial vehicles, plant, vans, cars, or related fields. Training will be provided for those without specific HGV experience.

Salary ranges from £20 to £24 per hour, with shifts from 6am–2:30pm, 7am–3:30pm, or 1pm–10pm. Overtime is plentiful and benefits include 25 days holiday, life assurance, pension contributions up to 5%,

Qualifications

• Must have a mechanical or technician background in commercial vehicles or related sectors.
• Experience with IRTEC, BTEC or City & Guilds qualifications.
• Full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed vehicle inspections to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Assess issues related to engines, transmissions, brake systems, and other critical components.
• Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire checks and replacements, and fluid top-ups.
• Implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and enhance vehicle reliability.
• Communicate repairs and maintenance needs to the Workshop Controller and services team.

A major Commercial Vehicle manufacturer is looking for a number of Mechanics - Technicians for their extremely busy commercial vehicle workshop. Must possess a mechanical or technician background in any of the following: Commercial vehicles, plant, vans, cars, agricultural, construction, armed forces or any other kind of vehicles and either have experience of IRTEC, BTEC or City & Guilds qualifications or similar. Full training provided.

ROLE: Mechanic - technicians

LOCATION: Reding

BASIC SALARY: £20 to £24 per hour depending upon experience

SHIFTS: 6am to 2:30pm, 7am to 3:30pm or 1pm to 10pm, lots of overtime available if wanted

OVERTIME: Lots available

ROLE: Please note if you do not have HGV mechanic or technicians experience you will be trained to do everything below:

• Perform detailed vehicle inspections to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment.

• Conduct repairs on various vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and suspension.
• Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire checks and replacements, and fluid top-ups.
• Implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and enhance vehicle reliability.
• Monitor and record vehicle performance to anticipate potential problems and schedule timely interventions.
• Communicate effectively with the Workshop Controller and the services team to explain repairs and maintenance needs.
• Keep abreast of the latest developments in HGV technology and repair techniques.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Must possess a mechanical or technician background in commercial vehicles, plant, vans, cars, agricultural, construction or any other kind of vehicles and either have experience of IRTEC, BTEC or City & Guilds qualifications or similar. Full training provided
