Job summary

WR Engineering in Redditch is seeking an experienced Vehicle Mechanic to maintain and repair a specialist heavy haulage fleet. You will perform servicing, inspections and fault finding on HGVs, trailers and related equipment, ensuring roadworthiness and safety.

The role requires City & Guilds in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or NVQ/SVQ Level 3, plus a full UK driving license. A company culture of hands-on work and a supportive workshop team awaits.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining, servicing and repairing heavy vehicles (HGVs, trailers, plant) and similar equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills for heavy fleet.
• City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance, servicing and inspections on HGVs, tractor units, trailers and associated equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across the fleet.
• Complete repairs and modifications identified through vehicle defect reports.
• Carry out inspections and ensure vehicles remain safe, compliant and roadworthy.
• Follow manufacturer guidelines and maintenance schedules.
• Attend breakdowns and perform repairs at site when required.
• Identify and report major faults, defects, malfunctions, accidents and incidents.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records.
• Keep workshop areas clean, safe and organised.

Role: Vehicle Mechanic

Location: Redditch

Salary: Up to £40,000 depending on experience

We are currently recruiting for an experienced heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join a busy operation in Redditch.

This is a hands-on role responsible for keeping a specialist heavy haulage fleet safe, roadworthy and fully operational. You'll carry out planned maintenance, inspections, fault finding and repairs across a range of HGVs, tractor units, trailers and associated equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance, servicing and inspections on HGVs, tractor units, trailers and associated equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across the fleet.
• Complete repairs and modifications identified through vehicle defect reports.
• Carry out inspections and ensure vehicles remain safe, compliant and roadworthy.
• Work to manufacturer guidelines and planned maintenance schedules.
• Attend breakdowns and carry out repairs at operational sites when required.
• Identify and report major faults, defects, malfunctions, accidents and incidents.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records.
• Ensure the workshop and working areas are kept clean, safe and organised.
• Follow company procedures, risk assessments and Health & Safety requirements.

Skills and experience

• Previous experience maintaining, servicing and repairing HGVs, heavy vehicles, trailers, plant or similar equipment.
• City & Guilds Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, or an equivalent qualification.
• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or a related discipline.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• A full UK driving licence.
• An HGV licence would be advantageous.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• A flexible approach to attending breakdowns and carrying out site-based repairs when required.
