Job summary

Unknown company is seeking Mechanics - Technicians for a busy commercial vehicle workshop in Reading. The role requires a mechanical or technician background across commercial vehicles, plant, vans, cars, or related fields. Training will be provided for those without specific HGV experience.

Salary ranges from £20 to £24 per hour, with shifts from 6am–2:30pm, 7am–3:30pm, or 1pm–10pm. Overtime is plentiful and benefits include 25 days holiday, life assurance, pension contributions up to 5%,

Qualifications

Must have a mechanical or technician background in commercial vehicles or related sectors.
Experience with IRTEC, BTEC or City & Guilds qualifications.
Full training provided.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed vehicle inspections to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment.
Assess issues related to engines, transmissions, brake systems, and other critical components.
Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire checks and replacements, and fluid top-ups.
Implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and enhance vehicle reliability.
Communicate repairs and maintenance needs to the Workshop Controller and services team.
