  • Work closely with the Maths team and Curriculum Team Leader to support effective learning.
  • Demonstrate strong Maths subject knowledge and relevant tutoring experience.

Job description

Job Title: Maths Tutor

Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary: £25 – £35 per hour (Depending on experience)

Are you a confident and experienced Maths professional who can help students build their knowledge, confidence and progress in Maths? GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Maths Tutor to support pupils in a school setting in North Yorkshire.

This role complements the existing Maths curriculum and is a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Maths position, involving the planning, preparation and delivery of lessons to small groups of students. The successful candidate will support pupils working towards age-expected outcomes, including those working towards Foundation GCSE level, while monitoring and assessing their progress.

Main Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Maths lessons to small groups of students.
  • Adapt teaching approaches and resources to meet different learning needs and abilities.
  • Support pupils working towards age-expected outcomes and Foundation GCSE-level Maths.
  • Monitor, assess, record and report on pupils’ achievement and progress.
  • Provide constructive feedback and identify areas requiring further support.
  • Work closely with the Maths team and Curriculum Team Leader to support effective learning.
  • Strong Maths subject knowledge with relevant teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience supporting secondary-age pupils in a school, tutoring or educational setting.
  • Ability to plan and deliver structured lessons independently to small groups.
  • Confident in assessing progress, maintaining accurate records and providing feedback.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and classroom management skills.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
