Job summary

GSL Education is looking for an experienced Maths Cover Supervisor to join a boys' secondary school in Camden. The role involves covering lessons, maintaining behaviour and supporting pupils in Maths.

The ideal candidate will have strong Maths knowledge, excellent classroom management, and the ability to engage secondary pupils. QTS is desirable; an enhanced DBS is required. This is a long-term role starting Nov 2026 with day-rate pay.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or similar school-based role.
• Strong Maths knowledge and confidence in supporting secondary pupils.

Responsibilities

• Supervising Maths lessons and other lessons when required.
• Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and keeping pupils engaged.
• Supporting pupils with their Maths work and encouraging positive learning habits.
• Maintaining a calm, well-managed classroom and enforcing school policies.
• Taking accurate registers and reporting any issues to staff.
• Providing feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.

Maths Cover Supervisor

Location: Camden
Salary: £165 - £265 per day
Start Date: Nov 2026
Contract: Long Term until Christmas

GSL Education is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Maths Cover Supervisor to join a boys' secondary school in Camden. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident Maths Cover Supervisor who enjoys supporting pupils and creating a positive learning environment.

As a Maths Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in maintaining high standards of behaviour and learning while covering lessons across the school. The successful Maths Cover Supervisor will have a strong understanding of Maths and be able to engage pupils effectively, ensuring they remain focused and supported throughout each lesson.

Responsibilities

As a Maths Cover Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

• Supervising Maths lessons and other lessons when required.
• Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and ensuring pupils remain engaged.
• Supporting pupils with their Maths work and encouraging positive learning habits.
• Maintaining a calm, positive and well-managed classroom environment.
• Managing behaviour in line with the school's policies and expectations.
• Taking accurate registers and reporting any issues to the relevant staff.
• Supporting pupils with different abilities and learning needs.
• Building positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Ensuring pupils complete the work set by their teachers.
• Providing feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.

Requirements

The ideal Maths Cover Supervisor will have:

• Previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Tutor or in a similar school-based role.
• Strong Maths knowledge and confidence supporting secondary-aged pupils.
• Experience working within a secondary school environment is highly desirable.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• The ability to engage and motivate pupils.
• A calm, patient and professional approach.
• The ability to follow lesson plans and instructions effectively.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• QTS is desirable, but not essential.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for a new enhanced DBS.
• The right to work in the UK.
