Job summary

Parkside House School in Ashington is seeking a dedicated Maths Teacher to join its specialist team from September 2026. The role is permanent and term-time-only, based at the Ashington site (NE63 8AP) with a salary up to £44,000 per annum depending on experience.

You will deliver engaging maths lessons, tailor learning for pupils with autism and learning difficulties, monitor progress and contribute to curriculum development in a nurturing, inclusive setting.

Qualifications

  • QTS or a relevant degree in Mathematics.
  • Passion for inspiring young people and making a genuine difference.
  • Experience of, or willingness to develop expertise in, supporting pupils with autism, learning difficulties or additional needs.
  • Creative, adaptable and able to tailor learning to individual pupils.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Calm, patient and resilient, with the capacity to build positive relationships and motivate learners.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, creative Maths lessons that inspire curiosity and achievement.
  • Plan and adapt learning to meet the individual needs of pupils with autism and additional learning difficulties.
  • Monitor, assess and celebrate pupil progress, using assessment to inform future planning.
  • Create a positive, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development through strong relationships and personalised approaches.
  • Contribute to the development of the Maths curriculum and whole-school improvement.
  • Collaborate effectively with teaching assistants, therapists, families and colleagues.
