Job summary

Aspris Children’s Services is seeking a dedicated Maths Teacher to work with pupils with ASC and complex needs at Roehampton Gate School. You will deliver high-quality maths lessons, adapt curricula, and contribute to the wider curriculum and tutor responsibilities.

The role requires QTS or equivalent, experience in teaching Mathematics, and a willingness to teach additional subjects; strong SEN experience is essential for supporting SEMH needs.

Qualifications

  • QTS or equivalent required.
  • Experience teaching Mathematics.
  • Ability or willingness to teach an additional subject (e.g. Computing).
  • Experience or strong interest in working with SEN students (autism, SEMH).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Maths lessons across key stages.
  • Support delivery of additional subjects where appropriate.
  • Adapt teaching to meet diverse needs of learners, including SEN.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress with regular feedback.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning in line with school policy.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment opportunities.

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Maths Teacher to join our team, specialising in supporting pupils with ASC and other associated needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating an inclusive learning environment, adapting curriculum content, and implementing individualized strategies to meet the diverse needs of our students.

We are looking for an ambitious, energetic and committed teacher who will expand the learning experiences of our pupils. The successful candidate will be teaching and supporting our young people who may have autism, emotional behavioural difficulties, ADHD and associated complex needs.

Purpose Of The Role

To deliver high-quality teaching and learning in Mathematics across the school, and to contribute to the wider curriculum where appropriate (e.g. Computing or other subjects). The role also includes form tutor responsibilities, supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of a tutor group. The role involves working with students with Special Educational Needs, including high-functioning autism and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

About The School

Roehampton Gate School is a purpose‑built day school for young people with autistic spectrum disorders. It is situated on Priory Lane. The spacious and modern building has been specifically designed to accommodate up to 70 young people with autistic spectrum disorders. The classrooms are set up for specialist subjects including information technology, art, food technology, science and music, together with exclusive sensory and therapy rooms/suites.

We have recently opened our Putney Vale site, a dedicated post‑1619 provision located in a brand‑new, purpose‑designed building in Putney Vale. This provision offers a fantastic range of opportunities, including both academic and vocational qualifications, as well as a variety of post‑16 courses.

Teaching And Learning
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Maths lessons across Key Stages
  • Support delivery of additional subject areas (e.g. Computing) where appropriate
  • Adapt teaching to meet the diverse needs of learners, including students with SEN
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing regular feedback
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning in line with school policy
  • Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment opportunities
Tutor Responsibilities
  • Act as a form tutor, taking responsibility for a tutor group
  • Monitor attendance, punctuality, and wellbeing of students
  • Deliver tutor time activities, including PSHE and personal development
  • Build positive relationships with students, supporting their personal and academic progress
  • Liaise with families regarding student progress, attendance, and wellbeing
Pastoral And Safeguarding Responsibilities
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Follow all safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Work closely with the safeguarding and pastoral teams
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Wider Professional Duties
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including trips, enrichment, and events
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, including support staff and senior leaders

Person Specification (Summary)
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching Mathematics
  • Ability or willingness to teach an additional subject (e.g. Computing)
  • Experience or strong interest in working with SEN students (particularly autism and SEMH)
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship‑building skills
  • Commitment to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing
