Job summary

Glebedale School in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an ambitious Maths specialist who loves helping pupils overcome barriers and reach their potential. UK QTS or equivalent is required, with strong knowledge across number, algebra, geometry and statistics.

You will lead a curriculum aligned with national standards, deliver inspiring lessons, and use assessment data to drive progress for SEMH pupils. The role involves working with senior leaders and SENCo to support pupil success and oversee Maths

Qualifications

  • UK QTS or equivalent certification.
  • Strong knowledge across maths domains: numbers, algebra, geometry, statistics.
  • Experience delivering accredited Maths pathways (Functional Skills, GCSE).
  • Proven ability to engage learners with differentiated teaching.
  • Experience using assessment data to drive progress.
  • Knowledge of provisions for pupils with additional needs.
  • Ability to analyse data for regulatory and accreditation purposes.

About You
  • UK QTS or equivalent
  • Strong subject knowledge across number, algebra, geometry, statistics and problem-solving.
  • Ability to plan and deliver accredited Maths pathways (Functional Skills, GCSE, Entry Level).
  • Skilled in engaging learners through varied and differentiated teaching methods.
  • Understanding of assessment and how to use it to support progress.
  • Awareness of statutory requirements for pupils with additional needs.
  • Empathy, resilience and the ability to manage challenging behaviour.
  • Confident in analysing data for regulatory and accreditation purposes.
  • Degree-level education and evidence of teaching competence.

Glebedale School is a special needs school which provides provision for ages 7 years and upwards. We provide a nurturing and welcoming environment to SEMH pupils, and our curriculum has a keen focus on therapy, education and personal development. Our school aims to help pupils grow academically, socially and emotionally to enable them to become capable future citizens. We provide education to 40 pupils from the Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and Cheshire areas. At our last Ofsted in July 2025, we were rated "Good".
